Amazon.com just revealed a free usage tier for its Amazon Web Services (AWS). The announcement was just a footnote to its Q3 2010 earnings call, but it has broad implications for Amazon and the future of the Internet.

Starting on November 1, new AWS users will be able to take advantage of the following services for a year for free:

“750 hours of Amazon EC2 Linux Micro Instance usage (613 MB of memory and 32-bit and 64-bit platform support) – enough hours to run continuously each month”

“750 hours of an Elastic Load Balancer plus 15 GB data processing”

“10 GB of Amazon Elastic Block Storage, plus 1 million I/Os, 1 GB of snapshot storage, 10,000 snapshot Get Requests and 1,000 snapshot Put Requests”

“5 GB of Amazon S3 storage, 20,000 Get Requests, and 2,000 Put Requests”

“30 GB per of internet data transfer (15 GB of data transfer “in” and 15 GB of data transfer “out” across all services except Amazon CloudFront)”

“25 Amazon SimpleDB Machine Hours and 1 GB of Storage”

“100,000 Requests of Amazon Simple Queue Service”

“100,000 Requests, 100,000 HTTP notifications and 1,000 email notifications for Amazon Simple Notification Service”

Amazon Web Services already has far reaching influence. Its suite of products is deeply integrated into everything from web services like Tumblr to products from software companies like AutoDesk.

America’s largest online retailer is be best known as, well, a retailer, but a free AWS tier signals an increased interest in web technologies. It’s an obvious statement, but by hooking developers early, Amazon is expanding its footprint on the web. Free Amazon Web Services will create a lower barrier of entry for many budding ideas that could eventually lead to fully realized companies.

What’s not so obvious is that this step is very much in the direction of expanding Amazon’s footprint as a technology company and not just a retailer.

As we announced would happen last week, Hootsuite’s mobile applications have now been made 100% free for all users.

The company, which gives users a full-featured third-party client for accessing social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, previously offered “Lite” and “Full” (a.k.a. paid) versions of its mobile offerings for iPhone and Android.

Those applications are now free, and the coming-soon Hootsuite apps for iPad and BlackBerry will also be free.

So, what happens to users who have already paid for the full app version? According to Hootsuite, “You’ll get to keep what you paid for. You purchased HootSuite for the ability to add unlimited social networks to your phone, to view ow.ly stats, and to have an ad-free mobile interface. You’ll get to keep all of these things… even after we make the app free.”

Hootsuite has done some juggling of revenue streams over the past couple months. In August, the company said it would roll out a freemium fee schedule for user accounts. Monthly subscription pricing ranges from $5 per month for your average power-user account to $2,000 per month for heavy-duty enterprise use.

Moreover, anyone who pays for a Hootsuite Pro account will get added goodies with their mobile apps, including advanced metrics data.

Have you tried a Hootsuite mobile app yet? What do you think of their decision to make all apps free?

Disclosure: Mashable editors use Hootsuite for the social-media aspects of our jobs.

Let's face it, anyone can build a website. There are countless companies out there offering a vast array of web building solutions, some good, some great, and some quite frankly are a complete waste of time! But throwing together a website is really only part of the story, only part of the process. There are literally, hundreds of thousands of web pages, that won't ever be viewed and therefore stand no chance of commercial success. Some of those sites are relatively good; unfortunately their owners have misunderstood the process and have the cart before the horse… In the online world no one just happens by your website, credít card in hand! If you've yet to build your website, or about to create a new site, stop! consider first exactly what you wish to achieve with that site, before you start. "Creating a website should follow a process proven to deliver a commercial end result… or run the risk of ending up, just another pretty picture in cyberspace!" Fortunately there is a process, and I highly recommend you take a look at it… perhaps you already know it… Content > Traffic > Pre-sell > Monetize A time tested, 4 step process, proven to produce websites that deliver… commercially! Ok so, let's now look briefly at each step and why they work in this particular order. 1. Numoro Uno, as always. Content. Very, very important. Building information-rich sites is crucial. You must have high quality, unique, relevant content on your site, A; because you want to attract visitors in the first place and B; to generate long term, search engine based free traffic. Online, people are looking for solutions, for information that leads to solutions. They use the search engines to hunt for the most relevant facts to reach this end goal solution. Your job is therefore easy… give it to them… but don't just plonk down any old garbage and hope for the best… take your time, put in the effort, provide good quality information that will over-deliver and keep your visitor interested, satisfy her need and you will be rewarded. Over time, gradually add new fresh, useful content and you will be creating web pages valued by humans and search engines alike. On the internet, high value content is king! 2. Traffic… Ahh! The Holy Grail… Much has been written on the subject, and many are making a good living providing (?) this elusive element. Truth is, (excluding social media) there are but two ways to get it – you either pay for it, or you optimize for it. If you take the time to understand the basics, you can easily do both. Paid search, (PPC) such as Google Adwords has its place, and can provide an immediate stream of targeted visitors to your website; however it is a study of its own and can, if not understood, be very costly very quickly! If you want to go that route learn with small amounts (of money) and don't be tempted to throw good after bad… owch! been there! Safer and arguably better, is optimization (SEO) for the organic results, as reached via a Google or other search engine search. This is simply intelligent website construction, a process anyone can do. The important point is, the optimization should be built in during the creative process, at the time you're constructing the site; you are literally building your website to principles that make it search engine friendly, thus leading to high natural positions in organic search results, leading to of course, significant free traffic flow to your site… 3. Don't sell… Pre-sell. You have created a website with value rich content, and fully optimized its pages for indexing by Google (and other search engines)… Folks are arriving at your site as directed by their search results. You are keen to have them buy your goods or services, ready with your pitch… but wait! There's another vital step in the process of converting your visitors into customers, and you've done half the work already… Pre-selling is a warming up process, whereby you develop trust and confidence in your offering… it's already well known that people are more willing to buy from those they like, trust or respect. By over-delivering relevant high value information, without appearing to be forcing a sale you will almost by default, create an atmosphere that inevitably leads to sales. Simple! As far as your visitor is concerned, her needs are being met, his wishes are being fulfilled, you are providing the very information that is the solution to that which they are searching for in the first place. Pre-selling creates an open-to-buy mindset that smoothly introduces your visitors to your monetization offer. 4. Monetize. Ok thanks for sticking with me, here's the home run… This is where you make your offering enticing by introducing and highlighting the many benefits of your product or service, and detailing exactly how it offers the solution to their predicament. You have paved the way with informative, relevant content and can now look to close with persuasive sales copy. Your call to action should be strong and concise. Tell your prospect exactly what they need to do to order. If you have a good product, and you should, let them know exactly how they will benefit by ordering from you… Today! So there it is… in brief… A formula simple, yet highly effective. Generate targeted free traffic via your highly optimized website, provide information packed content that offers solutions, warm up or pre-sell your visitors by over-delivering on the quality of that content, then and only then, monetize by introducing persuasive, benefit focused sales copy to convert pre-sold visitors into enthusiastic customers. For full details on how to implement each of these steps (with no technical knowledge whatsoever!) grab yourself a free 48 page e-copy of The Simple Art of e-Persuasion at the info link below… or visit my site.

I'm gonna give away a Huge Targeted Website Traffic Secret the gurus don't want you to know! A secret to get increased website traffic for FREE! I could charge $47 for this secret if I wanted to… But I'm not. I'm gonna piss off a lot of website traffic gurus by giving you this secret for free. This one secret I'm about to share with you is better than most of the snake oil being peddled on the internet by the so called "website traffic gurus"… And the website traffic gurus are charging as much as $97 for their snake oil! So how do you increase targeted website traffic for free? Writing articles or having them ghost written for you. However there's a little more to it than just writing articles…you gotta know which keywords to write your articles around and which sites to submit them to… And I'm gonna tell you how… Read On… First thing you gotta do is find your keyword niche to base your article on…. I'll tell ya how I did it… My website is about "How To Make Money Online". So I went to wordtracker.com and used their free trial… I typed in my keyword "How To Make Money Online" and got 15 other related keywords along with each ones KEI (keyword effectiveness index). In a nutshell, look for the keywords near the top of the list. The higher the KEI, the more popular your keywords are, and the less competition they have. This means you have a great chance of getting to the top of page 1 on Google. The keyword niche I used was the one at the top of the list with the highest KEI, in my case "How To Make Money Legitimtely Online". I then wrote an article around the keyword phrase "How To Make Money Legitimtely Online". I know this is a mis-spell, this was done on purpose when I did my keyword research on wordtracker.com free trial. My article got listed 4 TIMES on the FIRST PAGE of Google in minutes!!! All I did was write one article around the keyword phrase "How To Make Money Legitimtely Online", posted it on goarticles.com, squidoo.com, and Digg.com. In 30 minutes my article was listed (and still is as of this writing) 4 TIMES on the FIRST PAGE of Google's generic content, not the sponsered links on the right side of Google's page where you have to pay, but Google's generic content in the middle of the page… And this did NOT cost me one red cent to get listed 4 times on Googles first page… AND I'm competing with 2500 other sites on Google! Read On For The Proof… Don't believe me, go to Google, type in the keyword "How To Make Money Legitimtely Online" (without the quotes and with the mis-spell), and you will see my article listed 4 times…under squidoo.com, goarticles.com, and http://digg.com/ These are 3 traffic sucking sites! So find your keyword niche phrase on wordtracker.com free trial, write an article around that keyword phrase, post your article on those 3 sites I mentioned above, and get ready for increased website traffic for FREE! Then repeat this process over and over and get massive payloads of increased website traffic for FREE!! To your Success!

I purchased an iPhone in January 2009. It is very helpful when it comes to productivity. I can organize my personal and business calendars, contacts, notes, finance, musics, videos, etc. in one device. Applications such as Facebook, Pandora, Skype, EnCamp, BofA, etc. are very helpful, but some of them do not come with no cost. Luckily, I found an iPhone Applicationthat can tell us when there is a bargain on a non-free application. It is called BargainBin.
