‘Sh*t Politicians Say’ Video Arrives Ahead of Republican Debate

The latest political parody — Sh*t Politicians Say — just hit YouTube, keeping the unstoppable Sh*t [Insert Stereotype] Say meme alive for yet another day.

Go ahead and bemoan the meme all you want; you’re still going to watch the clip. And you should because it has multiple purposes. Other than trying to induce laughs, the video serves as an advertisement disguised as a meme for Americans Elect. Let’s call it a meme-vertisement for the the group’s online political campaign.

Americans Elect dubs itself the “first nonpartisan nomination,” which means it wants to provide Americans a third candidate — not just a Democrat or Republican — to vote for during the 2012 presidential race.

Sh*t Politicians Say landed just hours before Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate and stars actor Joe Leon. In true political fashion, his character rattles off common jargon heard from people running for office.

Do these ring a bell? Moral fiber, family values, trust me, three-point plan, earmarks, tough question, children are our future, Washington outsider, jobs, my opponent — all sound familiar.

Taking jabs at politicians is nothing new. For example, this presidential election season alone has spawned funny memes poking fun at Rick Santorum’s sweater vests and Rick Perry’s controversial “Strong” commercial.

Bonus: Political Gaffes Caught on Tape

Speaking of Rick Perry, remember his “Oops” memory lapse during a debate in November? That moment and these nine other gaffes have been etched into our mind’s eye for better or worse.

Rick Perry: "Oops"

2012 presidential candidate Rick Perry drew a massive blank Wednesday night during CNBC’s “Your Money, Your Vote” GOP debate. On stage in Michigan, Perry attempted to rattle off three federal government agencies he would eliminate, but failed to remember number three: “Commerce, education and the … uh, um, what’s the third one there. Let’s see … ” The mental block lasted about 40 more seconds before Perry uttered, “Oops.”

Google Chrome recently chronicled Bieber’s impressive reach and presence on Google and YouTube in an ad below. The YouTube-star-turned-mega-celebrity most recently made a splash at the Consumer Electronics Show where he endorsed a gadget for robotic toys company TOSY.

Mashup Blends 25 of 2011′s Hottest Songs [VIDEO]

The fifth installment in the annual “United State of Pop” mashup series from Jordan Roseman — a laptop-based DJ better known as DJ Earworm — just popped up on YouTube.

The mashup, “World Go Boom,” combines 25 of the year’s most-successful pop songs from artists such as Adele, Britney Spears, Foster the People, Lady Gaga, LMFAO, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna.

Roseman used music software Ableton Live to arrange the tracks into one seamless montage. “2011 gave us songs of regret and anger, pride and perseverance, and lots of fire. When someone’s taken everything from you, what do you do? WORLD GO BOOM.” Roseman wrote in a blog post describing the mashup.

2011: "World Go Boom"

DJ Earworm: "I’ve made some changes in the song selection process this year. In efforts to better reflect the year, I have a system that draws from the weekly charts from throughout 2011 that ensures that all the late-breaking hits (such as 'We Found Love' and 'Sexy and I Know It') are included in the 2011 mix."

Well, now his biggest hit since then, “Not Over You,” is facing the similar fate of becoming a sing-along classic.

With dozens upon dozens of covers of the song on YouTube, we decided to round up 10 awesome ones for you. Listen to them and then vote for your favorite in our poll.

YouTube’s Most-Shared Ads of 2011 [VIDEOS]

If we’ve learned anything about viral advertising in 2011, it’s this — you can’t touch The Force. Also, people will always love crazy stunts and action-packed destruction — especially if there are Angry Birds thrown into the mix.

Pop culture references, especially when Internet-related, also seemed to do really well this year. From the Royal Wedding to LMFAO, using someone or something that has a strong following always helps in acheiving viral reach. And if that doesn’t work, consider a male stripper or a monkey with an AK-47.

We also learned that people like to be tricked. The more realistic your stunt is, the better. There are a couple videos that made the list this year that make you question whether the ad was staged or real, which always leads to sharing.

If nothing else, there are a few touching videos that will leave you affected. From cute children talking about their relationship to the more serious topic of cancer, this list just goes to show that emotive videos can still cut through all the noise on the web.

Special thanks to our friends at Unruly for compiling this list.

Note: The list below does not include music videos, user-generated content or movie trailers. Unruly’s Viral Video Chart tracks 18 million shares a day through third-party APIs.

1. "The Force: Volkswagen Commercial" (Volkswagen)

This Super Bowl ad for the 2012 Passat features a "pint-sized Darth Vader" who discovers the Force in his driveway. It's incredibly cute and humorous, and was obviously well-executed because it holds the highest number of shares this year.

Oct. 30 Face-Off Winners: Jonathan Michael Comis and Tinashe

Two covers in the “We Found Love” Cover Song Face-Off battled it out up until the voting deadline, so we decided to feature both in this week’s write-up.

Jonathan Michael Comis and Tinashe secured more than 12,000 of the 15,000 votes. Comis covered the song because he related to it. “I look at this world as a hopeless place for love,” said Comis, who was inspired by Tyler Ward to start putting music on YouTube. “Today, most relationships don’t make it to marriage, and if they do half of them end in divorce. I was lucky enough to find love in a hopeless place.”

Tinashe thought Rihanna’s song was beautiful and had a simple message. “I wanted to make a version that was a bit more haunting,” said Tinashe, who wants to one day duet with Beyonce.

Here’s a collection of original songs and covers from Comis and Tinashe.

How To Sell a 2000 Corolla Like a Boss [VIDEO]

Each day, Mashable highlights one noteworthy YouTube video. Check out all our viral video picks.

You had me at: “Do you need a reliable, sexy vehicle to get you to the renaissance fair?” This home-made, surprisingly slick car ad comes from Clark Olson Media, a media company with a clear sense of humor. Clark Olson Media submitted the video as part of a video car review contest for Kelly Blue Book, a car retailer.

We’re not entirely sure if this video actually makes us want to buy a 2000 Corolla, but it certainly makes us want to give Olson a high-five. At this point, he might not need it. The video, released in mid-June, has picked up more than 200,000 views. Maybe it’s the rocking funk music, or the way he keeps saying Corrroooollaaaa, or the way that … no, it’s definitely the way he says “Corolla.”
